What is Sync Service?
Sync Service is a powerful import and export tool integrated with your Enroll site that allows you to configure and move data between Enroll and your SIS.
Three (3) methods of synchronizing data with your SIS are supported by sync service:
- Ad Hoc Connection: allows for a manual, one-time import or export that can be run immediately
- SFTP Connection (Secure File Transfer Protocol): allows you and SchoolMint to access a secure folder where files will be stored. SFTP imports/exports can be scheduled on a daily basis.
- API Connection (Application Programming Interface): this option is only available for organizations using PowerSchool, Aeries, or Skyward Qmlativ, and allows for an automated import or export of data between Enroll and your SIS.
Permissions
Two permissions are available for sync service under Settings > Manage Users > User Groups and Permissions, and then in the Settings section:
Sync Service Full Access: Ability to manage all import and export capabilities of sync service.
Sync Service Limited Access: Ability to import Schools/Programs, Students, Applications, and Cut Off Numbers. Admins cannot access the "Enable Export" and "Enable Import" buttons on the sync connection cards.
Enable Sync Service Imports
From Settings > General scroll to the bottom of the page and enable: "Enable Sync Import for Year XXXX" and Save.
Access Sync Service
Navigate to Settings > Sync Service to be taken to the Manage SIS Connections page, where you will click the "Sync Service Login" button.
Sync Service Dashboard
Several navigation options are available on the dashboard, including:
- SchoolMint Sync logo: returns you to the sync service dashboard from any sync service screen
- "Add Sync Connection" button: allows you to create as many unique connections to your SIS or SFTP as required
- Back to SchoolMint Enroll: returns you to your Enroll platform
- Help: takes you to help resources
- Connection cards are displayed for each connection you create
