Enable at the Global or Program-Level
Navigate to Settings > Manage Lotteries > Lottery Settings > Global tab to enable the Decline Reasons functionality. Once the Decline Reasons are enabled at the Global level, this feature will be displayed on each Program's Lottery Settings tab to be managed at the Program level, as needed.
Once enabled, families and admins declining offers on behalf of families will be required to report a Decline Reason.

Manage List of Decline Reasons
The Data Source: "Guardian Decline Reasons" will be pre-selected for use once the feature is enabled. You have the option of including an "Other" reason for families to select.
To review the list of default "Guardian Decline Reasons" to make edits for your organization, navigate to Settings > Custom Data > Custom Data Sources > Guardian Decline Reasons.
The default custom data source includes the following decline reasons:
- Attending another school within this organization
- Attending a charter school
- Attending a private school
- Attending a public school
Use the + and trash icons to add or remove reasons to meet your needs.
Guardian View of Selecting a Decline Reason
When a guardian (or an admin on behalf of a guardian) selects Decline, a pop-up modal is displayed.
Next, select the Decline Reason using the dropdown menu and Save the Declined Placement.
Reporting on Decline Reasons
Decline Reasons can be included in Reports or Saved Views by selecting this field as a column in your report or view: lottery_ranking.accepted_declined_reason
- If you enabled the "Other" option, also include this field:
lottery_ranking.accepted_declined_reason_other
