How do I add a student record?
There are three ways a student record can be added by an admin:
- From the guardian profile
- By logging in as the guardian
- Use Sync Service to import students
Adding From the Guardian Profile
This option is the recommended best practice for adding a student.
To add a student from the guardian profile, you'll need to find the guardian account and choose the "Add Student" option in the Students section of the guardian's individual profile.
The walkthrough below will guide you through this method.
Login as a Guardian
You may choose to use the "Login as Guardian" option if you are attempting to add a student while assisting a family with the application/registration process as a whole. If you choose to add a student by logging in as a guardian, follow these steps:
Import Students
Importing student records is the recommended course of action if many student records need to be created. Student imports can be done using the ad-hoc import function in the Sync Service tool.
New vs Returning Students
In Enroll, "new" and "returning" are different student types that allow processes to occur automatically. A "returning" student is able to utilize the "re-registering" options found in registration forms and settings while "new" students are not.
When a student record is created, it is always saved as a "new" student. If a student should be a "returning" student instead, you can access the student profile and update the "type" field from new to returning (shown below).
